SMUG's History
Stanford/Palo Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) began as a campus organization twenty years ago shortly after the introduction of the original Macintosh. Due to the tremendous interest of people in the larger community, the group moved off-campus to become an independent organization. SMUG's monthly meeting is sometimes held at the SLAC Auditorium, the historic meeting grounds of the Homebrew Computer Club. In the mid-1970s, the Homebrew Computer Club was home to many pioneers of the personal computer revolution, including two Steves: Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, who first demonstrated both the Apple I and the Apple II to their colleagues at Homebrew meetings.
